When a Schengen embassy refuses a visa, it gives you a standard refusal form. The form has a list of reasons and the officer ticks one or more. For applicants from Pakistan the most common are: the purpose and conditions of the stay were not justified, you did not show enough money for the trip, or the embassy had doubts that you would leave before the visa expired.
Step 1: read the ticked reasons carefully
- Purpose not justified: the itinerary, bookings or invitation did not explain the trip clearly, or did not match each other.
- Means of subsistence: the bank statement did not show enough money, or showed money with no clear source.
- Intention to leave: the officer was not convinced by your job, business, family or property ties in Pakistan.
- False or unreliable documents: the most serious one. Never submit a document that is not genuine.
Step 2: appeal or fresh application?
Each Schengen country sets its own appeal rules. The refusal letter says where to appeal and by when, and the deadline is often short. An appeal makes sense when the embassy got something wrong: it missed a document that was in the file, or misread a fact you can show clearly. A fresh application usually makes more sense when the file itself was weak, for example the funds were thin or the trip was not explained. A fresh file lets you add the missing proof; an appeal mostly looks at what was already submitted.
Step 3: fix the real weakness
- Explain any large deposits with documents: sale deed, salary, business income, a loan, or a gift with the giver's proof.
- Show ties: a leave letter or NOC, business documents, FBR returns, family responsibilities.
- Rewrite the itinerary so every night matches a booking.
- Write a cover letter that deals with the previous refusal honestly. Hiding a refusal is worse than the refusal itself.
How we help
We read the refusal form and your old file, tell you plainly what went wrong, and rebuild the file for a fresh application. Our Schengen file consultation is PKR 20,000 per person. We do not promise that the next decision will be positive, because only the embassy decides. Also read visa refusal reasons and how to reapply.
Inviting family from abroad? If your relatives live abroad and are inviting you, or you live abroad and are inviting parents or family from Pakistan, see Schengen visa for relatives from Pakistan: inviting family to Europe, Germany visit visa for family from Pakistan, and the Verpflichtungserklärung explained.
