An invitation letter is written by the person your relative will visit. It explains who you are, how you are related, why they are coming, for how long, and who pays. It supports the visa file, but it does not replace the visitor's own documents: the officer still decides mainly on the applicant's own situation in Pakistan.
What every invitation letter should include
- Your full name, date of birth, address, phone or email, and your status in the country (citizen, permanent resident, visa holder) with the document number.
- The visitor's full name as in the passport, date of birth and passport number.
- Your relationship, for example "my mother" or "my wife's brother".
- The purpose and exact dates: a family visit, a wedding, the birth of a child, a graduation.
- Where they will stay, and whether you will cover accommodation, food or the whole trip.
- A clear statement that the visit is temporary and they will return to Pakistan.
- Your signature and the date.
Documents to attach, by country
- UK: your passport or eVisa status, proof of address, recent payslips and bank statements if you are paying, and tenancy or ownership details showing there is room for the visitor. See UK visit visa for parents.
- Germany: if you will cover costs, a formal declaration of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärung) from your local foreigners' office, plus your passport or residence permit. See Germany visit visa for family.
- Other Schengen countries: each country has its own host form or attestation, for example the attestation d'accueil from the town hall in France. See Schengen visa for relatives.
- Canada: proof of your status, an employment letter or proof of income, and details of your household. See Canada visitor visa for parents.
- USA: no invitation letter is required, and the officer focuses on the applicant. A short letter can still help explain the trip. See USA visitor visa for family.
What the letter cannot do
A strong host cannot make up for a weak applicant file. If your parents have no income of their own, say clearly that you support them and show it, but their ties in Pakistan still matter.
How we help
We draft the invitation letter with you in plain language, check your documents against your relative's file, and make sure every date matches. Schengen PKR 20,000 per person; USA DS-160 PKR 50,000 per person or PKR 100,000 for a family of 4.
