If your UK Standard Visitor application is refused, the refusal letter explains the officer's reasons. Most refusals for applicants from Pakistan say the officer was not satisfied that you are a genuine visitor who will leave the UK at the end of the visit, often because of unclear finances, weak ties to Pakistan, or a purpose that was not explained.
Visitors have no right of appeal
For a visit visa there is normally no right of appeal and no administrative review. That leaves two routes.
Route 1: a fresh, stronger application
This is the right choice when the file really was weak. Read the refusal line by line and answer each point with evidence: where the money came from, what job or business you return to, who the sponsor is and what they can show. Declare the refusal in the new form and explain what has changed. Our UK visit visa guide lists the core documents.
Route 2: a pre-action protocol (PAP) letter
When the decision itself looks unlawful or irrational, for example the officer ignored documents that were in the file, misstated facts, or gave reasons that do not follow from the evidence, the formal route is judicial review. Before a claim is filed, the pre-action protocol expects a letter to the Home Office setting out why the decision is wrong and what you ask it to do, usually to withdraw the decision and decide again. The Home Office normally has 14 days to reply. A judicial review claim must be filed promptly and in any event within 3 months of the decision, so do not wait.
A PAP letter is not a complaint letter. It is written in formal legal language, refers to the actual evidence, and deals with every reason given in the refusal. If the Home Office agrees to reconsider, you may get a new decision without going to court.
Which route is right for you?
- Refused because something was missing or unclear: a fresh application is usually better.
- Refused even though the evidence was in the file and the reasons do not hold up: a PAP letter may be worth it.
How we help
We read the refusal and the documents you submitted and tell you which route makes sense. Our UK pre-action protocol (PAP) letter service is PKR 40,000 per case. We do not promise any outcome; the Home Office or the court decides. Court proceedings themselves need a UK-qualified solicitor.
Inviting family from abroad? If your relatives live abroad and are inviting you, or you live abroad and are inviting parents or family from Pakistan, see UK visit visa for parents and family from Pakistan. For the sponsor's letter, read Invitation letter for a visit visa: a guide for hosts abroad.
